    Thank's for the educationel videos! I find meadowsweet quite overwelming and can easely ruin a dish. I have learned to dry the flowers, then blend in some caster sugar and grind it. It now easier to control the flavour. It goes well with rhubarb, apples, creme and soft cheeses.😄

    @UKWILDCRAFTS What is the warning about getting to the thistle stem before flowering ? Is it like nettles where it's actively harmful, or just when it flowers it's more woody/less agreeable to eat ?

    • @UKWILDCRAFTS
      @UKWILDCRAFTS 5 днів тому

      Yeah it just becomes too tough/ woody to eat. Not harmful :)

    Re wild camping, the trees "Oak, Beech, Ash, Sweet Chestnut and Horse Chestnut." are listed as suffering from Sudden Branch Drop. .. where a big chunk of them just falls, and a tent isn't going to help much. I've wild camped under trees and I keep meaning to get better at identifying types.

    Good simple recipe, great video, but it would have been good to know that there are inedible lookalikes to elderflower. This video inspired me to go out to pick elderflowers and make the cordial, but I only found out about the inedible lookalike after making the cordial. There is a chance I have unknowingly picked the wrong type of flower and put it into the cordial, probably making it harmful to consume. Luckily, I didn’t drink any of it after watching one of your other videos detailing the inedible lookalike to elderflower, but it would have been better to know about the inedible lookalike from this video. But overall, this is a nice recipe that’s incredibly easy to make.

    I make cordial or elderflower gin from mine. Most of my shrubs are a 'purpuria' or purple elder. The tiny flowers have pink centres and the flower stems are purple so anything that steeps them turns out pale pink😍

    Not sure I've ever seen a barren strawberry. Do have the wild ones in my yard. They seem to spread by seed. If one has been nibbled on, I pull the berry and throw it in a pot.
